Abstract: The basis of creation of business networks is decomposition of the company's value chain resulting from assigning selected activities of the company to be implemented by other companies which thus become its partners in the network. Therefore the changes which occur in the automotive branch may be connected with migration of value as well as with the emergence of no profit zones. The companies must follow the migrating value and look for new profitable zones. In the automotive industry profit is created in the final links of the chain of value. The concept of value migration shows how competitive advantage may be achieved via an analysis of the paths of development of the branch. The concept of network constitutes a new manner of generating and keeping competitive advantage and makes competition of networks is acceptable. Car manufacturers created a global network of interconnected companies. The main cause of the above was primarily strengthening of international competitiveness. Historically, the development of delivery network was ascribed to the automotive industry. Therefore an analysis of competitiveness of business networks seems to especially well grounded with respect to automotive branch.
